Our Founder

Richard Lin – From Loss to Legacy

"True change begins within. When the mind is clear and the heart is steady, even the most painful poverty can become a path to awakening."

— Richard Lin, Founder of Envision Life Foundation

Richard Lin, the founder of Envision Life Foundation, began his journey with a heart full of questions and a deep desire to understand suffering. In 2007, while still a university student, Richard lost his best friend to suicide. That loss marked a turning point in his life. It opened his eyes to a deeper kind of poverty—not just financial, but spiritual, mental, and emotional.

Driven by this realization, Richard changed his academic path from international business to psychology, determined to uncover the roots of emotional pain and discover how to prevent it. Alongside his studies, he immersed himself in diverse spiritual traditions, shaped by his early education at Scots College (a Presbyterian school), and later through volunteer work with organizations such as the Tzu Chi Foundation and Buddha Light Temple. He also attended Taoist temple ceremonies in Taiwan, exploring wisdom across religion and psychological science.

In 2010, shortly after graduating from California State University, Los Angeles with a B.A. in Psychology, Richard founded Envision Life Foundation. His vision was clear: to build a nonprofit that addressed poverty through a holistic lens—by nurturing the mind, body, and spirit.

A 15-Year Evolution of Service

  • 2010–2015: The foundation’s early years focused on outreach and experimentation—setting up schools, organizing international volunteer programs, and donating essentials to underserved communities.

  • 2016–2020: Richard shifted focus to grassroots, sustainable development. Programs like vocational and culinary training schools in Cambodia, autism care initiatives in the U.S., and support for children’s triathlon teams in Taiwan emerged—blending social and environmental wellness with education and empowerment.

  • 2021–2025: As the foundation’s work deepened, Richard turned inward, recognizing that lasting change begins within. The foundation began offering spiritual, mental, and physical wellness programs including mindfulness meditation, compassion cultivation, and yoga.

A Realization That Changed Everything

After 15 years of service, Richard came to a profound insight: to end poverty, we must first transform from within. External change is only sustainable when individuals are rich in spirit, guided by clear intention, and committed to a righteous path.

Today and Beyond

Under Richard’s leadership, Envision Life Foundation now embraces a five-pillar model of wellness: Spiritual, Mental, Physical, Social, and Environmental. These are more than program categories—they are paths to a balanced life and a compassionate world.

Through courses, retreats, and our Wellness Trainer Certification, Richard’s vision continues to grow. His goal is not just to serve, but to empower others to serve, creating a global ripple effect of healing and harmony.
